I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. I come from a large family including three people that became jazz recording artists. Coming from a musical family has taught me to appreciate the "arts" as yet another way to reach young people. Even though we have an academic focus here at Anderson-Livsey, recognizing those added and individual gifts is yet another way to develop the "whole child". We do that through our special areas. I am now married with two adult children and three grandchildren.
I attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where I got my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I then attended Xavier, University in Cincinnati,Ohio where I received my Masters Degree in School Counseling. I later attended Georgia State University in Atlanta and received my Specialists Degree also in School Counseling. The thing I like most about being a school counselor, is being part of the "helping profession". I encourage those around me to be positive and always hopeful.
My personal philosophy concerning education is that all children can learn and will learn when teaching is relevant and engaging. I have witnessed the result of children who are nurtured and validated throughout their young journey and the results are amazing. Children can never get enough unconditional love.
I enjoy aerobic excercise and walking in my spare time. I understand that in order to reduce the stress in your life, you must find time to laugh and enjoy yourself. I believe that a strong character is built on a spiritual foundation and that you can lead by example. It is my hope that the children and families here will feel welcome and cared about by everyone. I believe we have a tremendous staff and we are off to a great start.
I look forward to working with the families and the staff here at "A-LES" .
